
Rev. Fr. G. Ambrose SJ
Position
Fr G Ambrose SJ was born on 07.11.1911 at Suranam to Mr Gnaanthickam and
Mrs. Gnanatheepam as the first child of the family. After his primary and
secondary education, he joined in the Society of Jesus and had his priesthood
formation initially at shenbaganur later the philosophy and theology at
Kerseong, Darjeeling and he was ordained there itself.
Right from the beginning of his priestly ministry he was much interested and
involved in catechetical activities education in the footstep of his father who
was a catechist and teacher in his early days.
He served as Teacher and Asst Headmaster and Headmaster in St Mary’s High
School, Madurai, Carmel High School in Nagercoil and he spent most of his
service in Stanislaus training school, sathur.
Even in his priestly service coaching service, he spent holidays spreading the
good news of the Lord to the villages through visualization and folk arts. After
his retirement, he became a full timer of Herald of the good news Society, and
he was known for his “Kalai vazhi irai mozhi” programs. He organized and
conducted Villupattu, Kathakalatchabam on biblical themes. Thus, Rev Ambrose
was recognized as moving gospel of the Lord. He was taken up the by the Lord
on 04.06.1993 at St Joseph’s Hospital, Dindigal
